Tips On Getting Through These Hard Times With BAJE ONE – Episode 3: Entertainment

Ok, so this might be obvious, but when you’re totally broke, you can always go to the library. I went to the library a few days ago and brought home an AMAZING haul: 2 books (Tomato Red and The Question Of Bruno), a movie (the original Battlestar Galactica), and a CD (Art Tatum – live piano music). All this stuff was free, assuming I can get it together and return it all on time.

The library also has computers that you can use for free. And it’s quiet. The one by me has a cafe where you can get a cup of coffee. Read some books, check out your sites, sip something warm… not bad for a $2 date.

If books and movies and quiet time aren’t exactly your style, here’s a good one: high school sports! Odds are you don’t live in the town where the next Lebron James is playing… but still. It’s (usually) free, you might get to see a great game, and if they have food and drink, it’ll be cheap. Plus, side benefit, this is some real deal community shit.

I never used to think about it like that. But I started going to a bunch of my nephew’s football games this year, out in Long Island, and the whole town would be out there at the game. Connect with your neighbors while you save!

Anyway, just a few ideas. Good hunting,

= baje

(Yo – if you start going to watch high school sports, please don’t be a weirdo. Thanks.)
